More than RON 130 million in European funding for large-size enterprises

The first lot of 13 financing contracts selected under the first call for projects intended for large-size enterprises, launched back in 2008, were signed on Thursday; the contracts' aggregate value is RON 131.5 million (about 30.94 million euros), said Minister of Economy Adriean Videanu.
The 13 companies that submitted the complete documentation required for drawing up and subsequently sealing the contracts and which will receive European funding this year are as follows: Astalrom, Tess Conex, Vrancart, Elvila, Popeci Heavy Equipment, Dacia Dies, Uzuc, Carpatcement, Somes, Menarom PEC, Napomar, RG Holz Company, Sirfit.
Videanu also said that the second call for project proposals intended for large-size enterprises was launched on March 9, and that the budget assigned for this session is RON 450 million (about 105.88 million euros). The closing date for the submission of applications for funding is May 31, 2010, said the Minister of Economy, adding that one project can get a maximum RON 20 million in financing.
Projects eligible in the second session of calls for proposals should address mainly productive investments and the preparation of large-size companies for market competition, the construction and modernization of production facilities, the acquisition of new equipment, technology and know - how, the improvement of the quality of products and offered services.
The first call for investment projects intended for large enterprises was launched in 2008 and initially had a total earmarked budget of RON 215 million (the equivalent of 57.4 million euros, at that time).A number of 123 projects were submitted in response to this appeal, 28 of which received approval for funding. Given the large number of submitted projects, the total budget for the financing of the selected 28 had to be supplemented to RON 235.338 million lei, an amount that keeps within the initial financial allocation expressed in euro.
