European-financed transport projects worth EUR 1.154 bn

EU-financed projects worth EUR 1.154 bn were approved and contracted under the Sectoral Operational Programme Transport (SOPT) in Romania, according to the August review, Romanian Minister of Transport Radu Berceanu on Wednesday stated at the government meeting.
'We have 24 projects approved and already contracted worth 1.154 billion euros under the SOPT. Another two projects are about to be contracted in September, worth 88 million euros. That is, we will soon have projects approved and contracted worth EUR 1.242 bn in total,' said Berceanu.
He also mentioned that there are large projects to be carried out under SOPT for Romania, to be assessed by the European Commission only, worth 2.528 billion euros in total.
'We have projects worth EUR 2.528 bn waiting for approval in Brussels plus other three projects worth EUR 663 mn that have been approved already, only documents missing, that is we have projects worth EUR 3.191 bn in total to be developed under SOPT,' the Minister said.
Moreover, in July and August there were held tenders worth EUR 700 mn, with new tenders worth 3.143 billion euros to be announced in the Electronic System of Public Acquisitions (ESPP) by the end of the year.
The Minister specified that European projects under SOPT have not benefited of pre-financing, with the abovementioned amounts representing effective payments.
