MFP set to borrow EUR 1,15 bn off local banks in February

Romania's Finance Ministry (MFP) is set to borrow RON 5 billion (nearly 1.15 billion euros) off local banks this February in seven issues of treasury certificates and Government bonds.
According to data posted on the MFP website, the first auction of Government bonds is scheduled for February 2 and it will comprise three-year benchmark bonds worth RON 750 million.
A 15-year bond issue worth RON 300 million will follow on February 23.
This January, the MFP borrowed RON 9.94 billion off local banks, in excess of its initial target of RON 4.5 billion, in six issues of treasury bills and bonds.
In 2001, the MFP raised RON 51.5 billion from local banks, compared with RON 41 billion in 2010, in RON-denominated bonds, plus 1.4 billion euros, up from 2.5 billion euros in 2010.
