Salans Wins SEE Real Estate Law Firm of the Year Award

Salans has won the SEE Real Estate Law Firm Award at Europaproperty's 2009 Southeastern Europe Real Estate gala in Bucharest on May 27. The award acknowledges the firm's achievements in the past year at a time when the real estate sector has been severely affected.
Salans won against stiff competition, including Clifford Chance, Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen, PeliFilip, Popovici Nitu & Asociatii, Schoenherr, Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii, White & Case and Wolf Theiss.
'This award is a testimony to the strength, skill and perseverance of our entire real estate team over the last year, which was a challenging one for the industry. It is also a credit to the leadership and determination of Laura Tiuca and Bogdan Papandopol, who co-head our real estate practice group in Bucharest,' said Managing Partner Christopher Berlew.
Laura Tiuca added: 'The real estate sector was severely hit by the financial crisis and many projects have been either frozen or abandoned altogether, but our team has constantly adapted. We worked on several greenfield projects developed by multinational companies and strengthened our hotel and hospitality sector capabilities while working for major international hotel chains expanding in Romania.'
