real,- Romania 4 times higher sales in 2007 versus 2006

In 2007 real,- the sales division of METRO group considerably increased its sales by 25.4% to Euro 11.0 billion. The acquisition of Wal Mart Germany and Geant in Poland contributed to this.
Organically real,- grew by 5.3%. These figures have already been adjusted for the disposal of Extra. real,- opened 14 new stores in Eastern Europe in the past financial year. Sales in Eastern Europe increased significantly by 73.0% to 2.3 billion and accounted for 21% of overall sales. In Germany the sales increased by 16.9% to 8.7 billion. The sales development in the domestic market stabilized also on a like-for-like basis. Due to the high starting losses in Eastern Europe, EBIT amounted to – € 16 million.
real, - Romania had a very strong growth in the year 2007. The turnover increased 4 times more than last year from Euro 82 million to over Euro 366 million. At the same time the number of store increased from 8 to 14 and the number of employees reached 7,200 at the end of December 2007.
