Siveco Romania participates in informatization of Turkey's customs system

Software company Siveco Romania is to participate in the informatization of Turkey's customs system, the new IT-based transit system ensuring the security of procedures in the customs points, waiting time cut down and fraud elimination, Siveco informs in a release.
The STM-led consortium (Savunma Teknolojileri Muhendislik) Siveco is also part of, alongside Kocsystem and KPMG Turkey, got ahead of 13 international companies, winning the contract for the 'Technical assistance for the development of the New Computerized Transit System in Turkey - NCTS'.
The bidding for this project was organized by Phare Central Finance and Contracts Unit (CFCU), contracting authority for projects financed by the European Union in Turkey.
The winner was designated following the analysis of the submitted offers, in which the technical criteria accounted for 80 percent and the economic ones for 20 percent. Following the evaluation, the consortium led by STM has left behind all competitors, by being awarded a huge number of points.
'The software solution we are going to implement will allow the IT management, in real time, of all entry and exit customs points. It will be finalized in 18 months and will harmonize the Turkish customs system with the European Union one', stated Dan Tuhar, Business Manager of e-Customs Line, Siveco Romania.
NCTS will function as an instrument of administration and control of the transit system. Based on the utilization of an advanced computing systems and on the electronic data processing, it will guarantee a more modern and efficient management compared to the traditional one, based on documents, with its proved deficiencies.
NCTS main objectives refer to the efficiency boost of the transit procedures, improvement of fraud prevention and detection, acceleration and higher security for the ongoing operations under transit procedures, an improved communication and coordination between the customs administrations.
