BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu: There is chance Romanian economy manages soft landing

There is chance the Romanian economy manages a soft landing, according to the Romanian National Bank (BNR) Governor Mugur Isarescu, who said it on Friday.

Focusing the mixture of macroeconomic policies on the management of the process meant to adjust the foreign imbalance (current account deficit) and the domestic one (fiscal deficit) may result in the Romanian economy managing a soft landing in the end and also in ameliorating the perception of the foreign investors, BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu said.

He also added, on the occasion of the presentation of the quarterly report on inflation, that 'at the end of the year, we are going to succeed in maintaining below the inflation target.'

BNR's 2009 inflation target is 3.5 percent, plus/minus 1 percent.
