Boc: Not all effects of the crisis have occurred
Nine o'Clock - 16 Februarie 2009
The economic crisis, which produces turmoil throughout the world, Romania included, has not produced yet all effects, according to PM Emil Boc, in a meeting with the employees from Cluj based company SC "Remarul 16 Februarie," cited by Agerpres.
"This economic crisis has not yet produced all effects. We shall still experience its consequences, but I think that in Romania, due to an investment policy, to a policy by means of which National Bank is able to boost bank lending, we shall be able to continue developing the economic engines," Emil Boc said. "In order to preserve the jobs, the Government provided, in the budget now debated in Parliament, an allotment of 20 per cent of the total funds for investments. Which means EUR 10.2 bln ready to flow into the economy, including at Remarul, in order to back the economic activity, orders, jobs. I believe that no other measure could be better than the investment in preserving jobs. On the other side, we made a decision to settle urgently the liabilities due by the State to private sector, entrepreneurs, companies, businessmen. They amount to EUR 2.1 bln", the head of the executive said.
Thus, the Government will provide support to businesses, so that they can preserve the existent jobs, as Emil Boc recently said during a visit at Nokia Jucu, Agerpres informs. "I am here because the major concern of the government, at this moment, is to preserve the jobs in Romania, to create new ones and to carry on investments for these jobs to be maintained and new others to be created, where this is the case," the PM said.
Boc said that "things are under control" in Cluj, reminding several projects of investments to help, Nokia included. The PM spoke about the 42 km of highway between Campia Turzii and Gilau, to be ready this year and for which EUR 375 M was allotted. "The Government maintains its commitments and wants to help any investor in Romania, Nokia included, for the jobs to be maintained," PM said, adding that an emergency ordinance will be adopted during the Wednesday session of the Executive aimed at regulating the manner based on which the Government becomes the partner of the business circles.
