European affairs dept. head: Romania needs foreign investors
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 20 Februarie 2009
Head of the European Affairs Department Vasile Puscas met on Thursday company Nokia officials based in Romania, with the meeting taking place amid the effects of the global economic crisis and the interest in promoting the European companies to the economic recovery programmes from Romania and the European Union, the Department said in a press release on Friday.
Puscas stressed that 'Romania should focus on the comparative edges and on turning them into competitiveness, particularly against the background of the spectre of recession in Europe. We'd like Nokia group's investment in Romania to be an obvious success in terms of the investment projects in Romania and its participating in the competitiveness race. Romania is interested that the domestic and/or European firms may find all the conditions required to place fresh investments in our country and we want them to be long-term commitments, so that the Romanian workers may not be concerned over threats of re-locating investments'.
The Nokia officials based in Romania said some areas of Romania may continue to be top preferred locations for the European IT companies, with this being a first result of the integral approach in the case of competitiveness poles, the release said.
