Gross profit of AIG Life Insurance Romania doubles

Insurer AIG Life Asigurari Romania's gross subscribed premiums went up 68 million lei in 2008, or 30 percent year-on-year, to 286 million lei, while the gross profit reached 62 million lei, 50 percent more than in 2007, according to a company release.
'On January 31, 2009, the solvability margin was five times bigger than the minimum necessary value, while the company's liquidity level exceeded by 10 times the minimum legal request,' according to the company's General Manager, Theodor Alexandrescu.
The company see these results as an outcome of consistent growth strategy and of diversification of the the distribution manner.
AIG Life Asigurari Romania (AIG Life Romania) was founded in 1998 when the life insurance sales activity began in Bucharest, Brasov, Cluj, Oradea, Timisoara and Constanta. The next years brought entire country expansion. AIG Life Romania means 10 years of business on the Romanian market, 500,000 people insured through individual and group policies, assets of over 180 million euros as at 1st October 2008 and the presence across the country with agencies opened in 15 cities and through partnerships with brokers and financial institutions.
