AIG Life Romania doubles gross profit in 2008 to lei 62m on extensive distribution

AIG Life Romania, the local unit of insurer American International Group (AIG), announced for last year a gross profit of 62 million lei (16.8 million euros), twice the amount seen in 2007, on a 30 percent advance in revenues.

Last year revenues stood at 286 million lei versus 219.7 million lei in 2007, when the gross profit amounted to 30.93 million lei.

The company extended its own territorial network in 2008 and during the first two months of 2009. AIG Life products are also distributed through the partner webs of independent brokers.

AIG Life Romania plans to widen its range of health insurance policies in the near future.

AIG Life is controlled by American Life Insurance Company (ALICO) and rolled into the Romanian market in 1998.
