ACT Media – news agency - 9 Martie 2009
Ford Company is slightly late with its plans in Craiova, (south west of Bucharest) but it keeps its commitments to start production with the Transit Connect brand, in the second half of the year.
'Our works with the plant has mainly focused, so far, on the implementation of Ford quality standards for installing the new equipment required to start putting out cars and engine. We have registered a satisfactory progress, although we are a little late with our plans, mainly because the delays in the EU approvals, but also because of the difficult market conditions that made us attentively revise all the investments we planned in Europe, Ford Romanian official Ana Maria Timis told Agerpres.
At the moment, we are preparing the plant to launch the production of the Transit Connect brand, the departments such us spraying, coachwork manufacture and assembly line included, Timis stressed.
The lawsuit does not impact on Ford Romania's plans, Timis said, referring to the SIF Oltenia's lawsuit filed to Ford Romania and the Privatization Authority (AVAS). SIF Oltenia took Ford Romania and AVAS to court for raising the share capital by 250 million euros, a rise approved by Automobile Craiova officials based on the investment obligations Ford had assumed.Ford took over 72.4 percent of Automobile Craiova for 57 million euros in 2007 and promised to invest 675 million euros.
