Government to monitor state companies not to gather losses
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 26 Martie 2009
The Government will set a Fiscal Council to draft macro-economic prognoses and will implement a monitoring system of the state companies so that they would not gather losses and will limit the budgetary corrections, the Public Finance minister Gheorghe Pogea on Wednesday enumerated the conditions assumed by the Romanian Government through the agreement signed with the International Monetary Fund.
'We shall put into operation a monitoring system of the state companies to improve performances or cut losses. We intend not to allow the state companies to hoard new losses. They should restructure, from this point of view, so that they could reinforce and increase their economic performance', minister Pogea said.
Referring to the salary policy on the medium term, according to the understanding with the Council of Europe and the IMF experts, the Romanian Government should endorse in 2009 the restructuring legislation of the public salary policy, which is to be gradually enforced in up to three years. The targets of the law are to unify the public sector's salary system, reform of the current incentives' system and set a maximum threshold for the salary expenditure, besides the basic salary.
