The core exchange in Bucharest plunges as the financial sector drops 5% on closing

Romania's five financial companies suffered a strong correction of 4.88 percent in the last session of the week on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE), while the banking sector pulled down the index of the ten most liquid companies by 3.55 percent, in line with a downward trend on external markets.
Liquidity hiked 18.7 percent to 35.18 million lei (8.23 million euros) from 29.64 million lei in the previous session. The BET index of the ten best companies on the market fell 3.55 percent to 2,427.42 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares without financial companies lowered 2.73 percent to 1,572.56.
The BET-FI index of the five financial companies or SIFs lost 4.88 percent to 10,912.46 and the ROTX index for trading blue chips in Vienna dipped 5.28 percent to 4,903.56.
The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid stocks decreased 3.81 percent to 229.41 and the BET-NG index of the ten power companies on the capital market slipped 2.81 percent to 354.49.Stock markets in Europe reported significant drops at closing hour in Bucharest, with the oil and banking sectors posting the largest falls. The FTSE index in London decreased 1.21 percent to 3.878.97 and the DAX index in Frankfurt lowered 2.37 percent to 4,162.91. The CAC40 index in Paris lost 2.32 percent to 2,827.97.
Second Romanian lender by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) was the most liquid stock, generating deals of 9.63 million lei, and lost 5.15 percent to 6.45 lei. Financial company SIF Moldova (SIF2) cheapened 5.69 percent to 0.431 lei, SIF Oltenia (SIF5) depreciated 6.42 percent to 0.496 lei, SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) fell 3.53 percent to 0.492 lei and SIF Transilvania (SIF3) decreased 4.82 percent to 0.296 lei.
Oil company Petrom (SNP) eased 0.65 percent to 0.153 lei and lender Banca Transilvania (TLV) plunged 6.7 percent to 0.835 lei. Fertilizer maker Azomureş (AZO) slipped 0.96 percent to 0.207 lei and drug maker Biofarm (BIO) lost 4.38 percent to 0.0851 lei. Broker Cluj (BRK) surged 12.26 percent to 0.119 lei.
