Thousands of tourists invited to spend Easter on Romania's Black Sea coast
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 16 Aprilie 2009
There are nearly 8,500 places in more than 35 hotels on Romania's Black Sea coast awaiting guests this Easter.
Prices for tourist packages comprising two or three overnights, breakfast and festive Easter lunch included, vary between RON 220 and 400 per person, according to the hotels' star category.
Chair of the Litoral Association for the Promotion and Development of Tourism Corina Martin says prices for the tourist packages under the 'Light from the Coast - Easter on Romania's Black Sea Coast' programme carried out by Litoral in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism are promotional and under the same programme actions are carried out to attract holidaymakers. Travellers spending Easter on the Black Sea coast can attend the church service on the night of the Resurrection performed by Archbishop Teodosie of Tomis on the Modern beach of Constanta and the Mangalia beach.
The resort of Mamaia will host a traditional Easter fair, with sales of Easter cakes, painted eggs and bread cakes, and on the first Easter day folklore shows will be staged, with the evening to conclude with a concert staged by Goran Bregovic. Travellers at the Mamaia resort will be offered a free trip to the St. Andrew monastery.
President Traian Basescu has announced he will spend Easter in the northern province of Bucovina, but he would like to be able to attend Bregovic's gig at Mamaia.
Similar events are also scheduled for April 17-20 at the Black Sea resort of Mangalia. Besides the pilgrimage to the relics of St. Andrew and to the Sts. Michael and Gabriel Church, tourists may partake of an Easter meal extended by the local administration in the Mangalia marina.
Tourists at Mangalia will also be offered a free trip to the St. Andrew monastery.
