The new director for Romania of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Milena Messori on Thursday opened the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) trading session, giving assurances at the same time that the institution she represents will continue to follow its schedule for bond issue in Romania.
'We will continue to follow the schedule for bond issue in Romania, to be listed on the stock exchange, and we are also going to watch for the opportunities on the market and its evolutions,' Milena Messori, who took over on April 1 the presidency of the EIB Office in Bucharest, said.
Milena Messori replaced Goetz Von Thadden. The EIB directors are usually designated for such intervals between 3 and 5 years. EIB officially opened in June 2007 an office in Bucharest and also a representative office in partnership with the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, meant to support European projects in Romania.
The EIB loans totalled 1.1 billion euros in Romania in 2008, with the total loans since 1990 and until today amounting to 6.2 billion euros. The loans are usually granted in the transportation, communications, environment, industry, services and SMEs sector in Romania.The EIB projects in Romania in 2009 total 1.5 billion euros and target mainly the SME sector, the industry and infrastructure.
