GreenWEEE International Buzau invests EUR 10m in an electronic waste recycling plant

GreenWEEE International Buzau channeled 10 million euros in a plant that recycles electric and electronic equipment at a speed of over 50,000 tons of waste a year.
The plant is located at about 2 kilometers away from the eastern city of Buzau, spreads on 10,795 square meters and employs 40 people. The 50,000 tons of waste yearly production capacity is three times larger than the quantity of waste collected in Romania last year.
GreenWEEE is the first company on the Romanian market to approach the electric and electronic waster recycling in an integrated manner. It is also the first project this ample on the south-eastern European markets.
The targeted turnover for the first year stands between 1 and 2 million euros.
The investors are SC Romcarbon SA Buzau with 72 percent, two Swiss investment funds with 18 percent and a private investor with 10 percent.
GreenWEEE International SA belongs to the Romcarbon group, headquartered in Buzau and operating in several counties nationwide, in Ukraine, Serbia, Macedonia and Greece. The group now employs over 2,000 people. Besides electronic and electric equipment, the group also recycles PET gas cylinders and plastic containers. With 150 collecting points throughout the country, the group reached a turnover of 85 million euros in 2008.
