No-confidence motion to be presented next Monday and voted on Wednesday

The Senate and Chamber of Deputies Standing Bureaus, reunited on Tuesday, have decided that the no-confidence motion tabled by the National Liberal Party (PNL, in opposition) and the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR, in opposition) will be presented by the initiators next Monday, the respective debates and the voting being scheduled on Wednesday, announced Senate's Quaestor Ioan Chelaru (Social Democratic Party - PSD - in ruling coalition).
The censure motion called 'PD-L - PSD big hoax' (Liberal Democrat Party, respectively Social Democratic Party, forming the ruling coalition, editor's note), signed by 124 members of Parliament representing PNL and UDMR, was tabled on Monday with the Senate's Chairman Office, Mircea Geoana.
In the first part of this motion, the Liberals made a compared analysis between PNL ruling and PD-L and PSD one, underlining that the years of Liberal governance were 'the best from the economic point of view in Romania's entire modern history'.
As well, in PNL and UDMR opinion, the Emergency Ordinance 34/2009 on the budget rectification for 2009 and the adoption of some financial-fiscal measures 'marks the failure of the fiscal-budgetary policy of PD-L - PSD Government'.
According to the Liberal and UDMR MPs, PD-L - PSD Government ignores that budget revenues are gathered not by 'supplementary fiscal measures applied to contributors and by terrorizing own employees, but through improved administration and tax collection, of taxes and contributions as ruled by the current fiscal laws'.Another source of discontent for PNL and UDMR is related to the introduction of the so-called 'lump-sum tax', which would mean the end of the single tax of 16 percent.
PNL and UDMR MPs consider that the introduction of this tax will prove to be 'disastrous' because revenues to be collected from the other taxes paid by the same companies will register a significant decline, and the number of jobless in Romania will rise considerably.
The censure motion also says that under PD-L and PSD governance Romania's standard of living dropped to a great extent. 'Private companies are being shut down and the investments level is falling dramatically, the same as Romanians' living standards', the quoted document also says.
