Romania's financial sector falls 6.4% on the BSE on closing, following external market pessimism

The main bourse in Romania, the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE), ended its third session in a row in the red, with much more aggressive falls, and the financial companies dropped 6.4 percent on average as the global markets posed a steep downward trend and high volatility, brokers say.
Liquidity stood at 38.97 million lei (9.37 million euros), hiked by transactions with bonds issued by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and a package of state securities which added 8.64 million lei to the total market deals.
The BET index of the ten best companies fell 3.30 percent to 3,054.94 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares without financial companies lowered 3.27 percent to 1,990.86.
The BET-FI index of the five financial companies known as SIF lost 6.39 percent to 16,499.61 and the ROTX index for trading blue chips in Vienna plunged 6.40 percent to 6,122.73.
The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid stocks decreased 4.28 percent to 303.59 and the BET-NG index of the ten power companies slipped 1.18 percent to 450.41.
Shares in the banking sector were the most severely hit by the falls, as BRD SocGen plummeted 10.98 percent to 7.30 lei and Erste Bank (EBS) sank 14.87 percent to 74.40 lei.
On the Vienna stock market, Erste shares were traded at 18.04 euros,down 11.45 percent.
Lender Banca Transilvania (TLV) depreciated 1.92 percent to 1.02 lei.
Financial company SIF Oltenia (SIF5) cheapened 4.55 percent to 0.84 lei, SIF Moldova (SIF2) lost 8.86 percent to 0.72 lei, SIF Transilvania (SIF3) dipped 8.13 percent to 0.418 lei, SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) slipped 2.84 percent to 0.855 lei and SIF Muntenia (SIF4) plunged 7.94 percent to 0.58 lei.
