Liberals plan to abrogate lump-sum tax
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 19 Mai 2009
President of the National Liberal Party (PNL, in opposition) Crin Antonescu stated on Monday, at the end of the party's National Executive Council, that PNL is going to submit in the Chamber of Deputies a law draft on the abrogation of the fiscal measures present in the Emergency ordinance on budget rectification.
'The decision was taken on submitting the Liberal project on the taxes and customs reduction, including on one hand the abrogation of the lump-sum tax and, on the other, the introduction of some tax cuts, some incentives, fiscal facilities already adopted in October last by Tariceanu Government and, subsequently, canceled by Government Boc. We refer here at the non-taxation of the reinvested profit, of 5 percent cut in the value of fiscal obligations for those paying them within the deadlines and facilities granted to employers who hire people unemployed for more than three months', said Antonescu.
As well, PNL leader announced the tabling of a law draft on the bolstering of the pension point to 45 percent of the gross average wage.
On the sidelines, Crin Antonescu reiterated his request addressed to the head of state to inform Romanians about the follow-up of Romania's contracted loan with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
'Once again, I urge Mr. President Basescu and Mr. Prime Minister Boc to inform the Romanian citizens and contributors over conditions and costs of the agreement concluded with the IMF, not in terms of the interest rate, which we know, but in terms of social and economic costs. In other words, to make public the main provisions, the main constraints imposed by IMF through this agreement and which will be endured not by the Government, not by the President, not by the political parties, but by the Romanian citizens and contributors', stated Antonescu.
