Vodafone Romania reports earnings of EUR 527m in fiscal year ended in March, down 3.5% y/y

Vodafone Romania, the local arm of the world's biggest mobile-phone company by sales, ended the fiscal year 2008 - 2009 on March 31 with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 527 million euros, down 3.5 percent on the previous fiscal year, the company announced.
Total revenues increased 0.7 percent to 1.166 billion euros. EBITDA as a percentage of revenues represented 45.1 percent this year. Revenues from services upped 1.4 percent to 1.113 billion euros.
The average revenue per user amounted to 9.85 euros, compared to 10.76 at the end of March 2008, accounting for an 8.5 percent annual slip.
The mobile phone operator registered 667,212 new clients in the fiscal year 2008 - 2009, reaching a total of 9,588,065.
Subscriptions accounted for 38.3 percent of the total client base and SIM users represented 61.7 percent. The number of subscribers saw a 14.6 percent annual hike.
The company reached a total 1,135,260 users for its 3G services, a boost of 78.3 percent in the fiscal year ended this March.
Vodafone counted some 302 million clients worldwide on March 31 2009. The company's main competitors on the local mobile phone market are Orange Romania and Cosmote Romania.
