Romanian-Italian trade exceeded 11 billion euros in 2008

The volume of trade between Romania and Italy went up to 11.56 billion euros in 2008, according to a release of the Italian Foreign Trade Institute (ICE).
Romania exported to Italy goods worth 5.18 billion euros while imports from Italy totalled 6.38 billion euro.
The volume of traded food in 2008 accounted for 456.2 million euros accounting for 4 percent of the total volume of trade between the two countries. Romania imported from Italy farm and food products worth 270.9 million euro, with Italy ranking 4th in the classification of countries supplying such products, after Hungary, Germany and the Netherlands.
The ICE continues the 'Italian Festival' in Romania with a week devoted to cooking, between May 29th and June 4th, dubbed 'Having a meal in Italian restaurants' The festival is aimed at offering Romanians, at a promotional price, Italian specialities.
Attending the festival will be 21 Italian restaurants in Bucharest. They have s special menu and signals the participation in the event by posting stickers with the festival's logo.
