Brasov County Council (central Romania) is part of a tourism project to be developed in the Ciucas Mountains, for two billion euros from EU funds. The money will pay a tourism infrastructure, ski tracks and cable ski in a new resort, the Business Standard daily reads.
'There is a project worth two billion euros for the tourism infrastructure in the Ciucas Mountains. The agreements have been signed and the project has been tabled in Brussels, already' Brasov County Council president Attila Kovacs said during the debates called Business Tour Brasov. The new resort in the Ciucas Mountains will cover almost 1,000 hectares that have been already licensed.
The main accommodation and access points to the Ciucas Massif are the Cheia resort and the Muntele Rosu (Red Mountain) chalet where one can reach through the Bratocea passage coming from Brasov town (160 km north of Bucharest).
A large number of wild animal species such as bears, boars, deer, lynxes, foxes, martens, squirrels, wild cats and chamois live here.
The area also shelters a natural reserve with a lavish vegetation consisting of meadows, shrubs, bushes and mountain flowers such as edelweiss.
