Caravan of green cities is officially launched in Bucharest

The Green Umbrella and Green Little Men caravan was launched in Bucharest on Monday under the motto 'From now on your city is greener.

The action is supported by partners Recolamp, Rorec, Ecotic, Tuborg and Radio Zu and aims at educating citizens to protect the environment but also to offer solutions for collecting wastes coming from electric and electronic equipment. So far, with the support of the local authorities, the caravan has stopped in Cluj (central Romania) and Timisoara (western Romania), inviting the local audience to come to concerts given by the greatest music groups in Romania: Directia 5, Cargo, Simplu, Sistem, Zdob si Zdub.

'The local authorities together with our permanent partners ... ensured the success and good working of these actions and we want to thank them for their involvement in the Green Umbrella and Green Little Men caravan. I am sure that the positive response we have got so far in Cluj and Timisoara will also continue in the cities we are going to visit,' said Shachar Shaine, president of Tuborg Romania.Brasov (central Romania) will join the green cities of Romania over June 11-13. The events to take place in Brasov but also in other big cities all over Romania will include: information campaigns for responsible drivers, collecting wastes coming from electric and electronic equipment or environment friendly actions. In the months to come the Green Umbrella and Green Little Men caravan will arrive in Bucharest too.

The Green Umbrella is a campaign meant to make people responsible for the environment, which was started by Tuborg Romania in summer 2007. The programme is supported by more than 400 volunteers of 32 counties (from among 40) and over 450 partner bloggers.
