Basescu asks MAE to intensify contacts for hosting ACER headquarters
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 15 Iunie 2009
President Traian Basescu on Sunday asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) to intensify its contacts with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs for the headquarters of the European agency for cooperation of energy regulatory authorities (ACER).
'I would like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intensify its contacts with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs in connection with the energy regulatory agency. Maybe the decision will be made during the Swedish presidency,' said Basescu who attended the Government meeting.
On June 2, in Brussels, Romania put up its candidacy for hosting the ACER headquarters.
The Ministers of Energy of the European Union, who came together in Luxembourg on Friday, did not make any decision yet on hosting the future ACER for which there are three candidacies: Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The talks in this file will continue, every one of these candidacies being supported by an equal number of EU member states, but it is very probable that a final decision should be made in July, when the six-month presidency of the European Union is ensured by Sweden.
