The pharmaceutical sector - most affected by legislative instability in Romania
Nine o'Clock - 23 Iunie 2009
The most affected sector in Romania by the excessive regulation and legislative instability was the pharmaceutical one in 2008, followed by the medical services and electricity, reads a survey drafted by the agency Point Public Affairs, Agerpres informs.
The motor vehicle industry, the chemicals, the extractive, metallurgical and textile industries, mass-media and publicity, wood processing, forestry, transport, tourism and tobacco complete the first application for the monitoring of the legislative projects in Romania. The authors of the survey consider that over half of the total of 70 normative acts registered last year had a negative financial impact on the companies which operate in the pharmaceutical sector, conducting to losses of over EUR 100 M.
"When the markets are controlled through imposed prices and tariffs or strict operation conditions, as it happens in the case of telecommunications, the financial and banking sector, alcoholic beverages, electricity, natural gas or the pharmaceutical industry, it is necessary to increase the responsibility of the Romanian authorities in the decision making process, through a more extensive and serious consultation with the affected partners, as it happens in the European Union," Laura Florea, managing partner, Point Public Affairs, stressed.
