SIF shares advance 11pc

The Bucharest Stock Exchange closed Wednesday high, with the quotations of the shares in the financial investment companies (SIFs) advancing 11.15 percent, following information that Parliament is considering cancelling the 1-percent ownership threshold in SIFs.
The SIF shares were halted from trade for half an hour, in the early session of Wednesday, closing the day the most liquid stock. SIF5 Oltenia reported transactions worth RON 7.700, SIF2 Moldova RON 3.774 million, SIF3 Transilvania - RON 3.670 million, SIF4 Muntenia - RON 2.202 million. Shares in the Biofarm pharmaceuticals company were traded to the tune of RON 1.582 million.
The quotations of the traded stocks appreciated 1.52 percent, on the average, as reflected in the BET-C composite index.
Shares in 52 companies were traded on the BVB-Regular main ring, with 33 of the stocks having recorded rises in their quotations; six stagnated and 12 declined.
Total trade on the BVB on Wednesday stood at RON 28.342 million (6.702 million euros), while trade on RASDAQ reached RON 162,268.
The BET index reflecting the developments in the ten most liquid stocks went up 1.74 percent, while the ROTX index advanced 1.86 percent. The BET-XT index of blue chip stocks reflecting the 25 most liquid stocks advanced 4.29 percent, and the BET-NG index of energy and utilities companies went up 1.04 percent.
