BCR prepares to grant loans in lei in upcoming years

The Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) is to grant as many loans as possible in national currency, in the next years, Executive Manager of the Austrian Group Erste, which is the majority shareholder of BCR, Andreas Treichl said on Wednesday, in Bucharest.

The Erste official also specified the actual decision BCR is going to take related to this matter and the moment when it will be implemented depend mostly on the policy dictated by the Romanian National Bank's (BNR).

Probably, BNR will issue some liquidities on the market, also more important is the bank to get sure interests will drop on the domestic market and the exchange rate will maintain stable, Treichl said, also showing that reaching the both objective in the same time is not an easy thing to do.

Andreas Treichl, who is also the Chairman of the Erste Foundation, delivered the opening speech at the International Conference 'The Future of the Social Change: 1989-2009 - Vision and Perspectives after 20 Years of Transition.' The Erste Foundation and the Institute for International Economic Studies from Vienna were the organizers of the event in Bucharest. The organizers intended to present an overall image of the cohesion and social inclusion in the states in Central and Eastern Europe.
