Romanian IT&C sector less afflicted by the economic crisis

Bucharest, June 26 /Agerpres/ - The Romanian IT&C sector is among the least afflicted by the economic crisis, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Gabriel Sandu, told Agerpres.

'Even under the circumstances of economic crisis, the IT&C sector is at present one of the most lucrative and dynamic,' said the communications minister. Sandu added that this is a good opportunity for Romania to take advantage of its technologic potential creating the prerequisites for an information society.

The official of the Ministry Communications and Information Technology (MCSI) announced that the ministry he is ahead of gets ready for a range of projects for investments, but also for the identification of facilities for investors of the IT&C sector.'We are aiming to simulate and encourage innovating solutions, research/development and partnerships with the academic environment, a range of facilities adequate to the sector as well as to increase the number of experts in the IT sector,' said Gabriel Sandu.

The minister also referred to the Single Project of Electronic Contact which will develop the projects with potential and the projects for which too little has been made lately.

Sandu deems that the budget of the 0.15 percent of the GDP earmarked by the government to the Ministry of Communications and Information Society, coupled with the accession of European structural funds is enough for the unfolding of projects in 2009.

By the end of the ongoing year, the Ministry of Communications and Information Society aims to draw the entire sum allotted by the European Union worth 383 million euros.

Among the projects implementing the national strategies in the IT&C field are the National Strategy for Universal Service, The Broadband Strategy, The Strategy of Service Directive - the establishment of the single contact pointy, the strategy on IT, the Strategy on Minimal Public Administration, the National Strategies Domenii.ro and Domenii.eu, the strategy Telecommunications, Cyber Crime Strategy, e-Romania Strategy and Strategy on Postal Services.
