FinMin: 20 banks sing for joining First House programme

Bucharest, June 26 /Agerpres/ - The Public Finances Ministry received offers from 20 banks that plan to participate crediting products in the First House Programme, with their offers totalling 1.457 billion euros, the ministry announced on Friday.
The banks are BCR, BRD, Raiffeisen, CEC Bank, Alpha Bank, Volksbank, Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, Banca Romaneasca, Piraeus Bank, Leumi Bank, ATE Bank, Intesa San Paolo Bank, Credit Europe, OTP Bank, Unicredit, ING, Emporiki, Millenium Bank, Garanti Bank.
After examining the offers, the Finances Ministry and the National Fund for Guaranteeing the SME Loans will publicly announce the banks that meet all the eligibility criteria set in the emergency ordinance no. 717 from 2009 and the pro-rata volume assigned each bank in order to meet the one billion euro cap set for 2009.
The banks that meet the set requirements are to sign guarantee conventions with the National Fund for Guaranteeing the SME Loans.
The Romanian Government has assigned one billion euros to guarantee the mortgage lending under the First House programme. The persons seeking to contract such a loan will have to pay 5 percent of the acquisition price in advance, if such price is not higher than 60,000 euros.
The banks that extend mortgage loans under the First House programme can apply a margin of no more than 4 percent per annum above the three-month EURIBOR interest in the case of euro credits and no more than 2.5 percent per annum above the three-month ROBOR interest for the leu credits.
