The “First House� programme – operational by mid July

The "First House" programme will become effective by the middle of July, the public finance minister Gheorghe Pogea declared yesterday. Thus, according to him, a Romanian can buy a dwelling making a down payment of EUR 3,000, the costs being 42-49 per cent smaller than the present ones, Agerpres informs. On July 2, a common order will be signed by the Public Finance Ministry and the Ministry on SMEs.
This is a convention for the implementation of the First House programme. After the signing of the order, the banks will sign individually the guarantee convention, in order that this programme may become effective by the middle of July, according to the declarations of Gheorghe Pogea. "Hopefully, this programme will mobilize the financial market, will assure the social needs, will give an impetus to the construction sector," Gheorghe Pogea added.
The Public Finance Ministry has received offers from 20 banks, which intend to participate with crediting products to the First House programme, the total value of the offers being EUR 1.457 bln. The 20 banks are BCR, BRD, Raiffeisen, CEC Bank, Alpha Bank, Volksbank, Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, Banca Romaneasca, Piraeus Bank, Leumi Bank, ATE Bank, Intesa San Paolo Bank, Credit Europe, OTP Bank, Unicredit, ING, Emporiki, Millenium Bank, Garanti Bank.
