BNR: Greece ranks 1st in terms of capital invested in Romanian banks

Bucharest, June 29 /Agerpres/ - Greece ranked 1st in Romania in terms of capital invested in the banking system, in late March, followed by Austria, the holder of this position till recently, showed a report on financial stability of the Romanian National Bank (BNR).
Greece held 30.7 percent of the aggregate foreign capital in Romania, late March 2009, with Austria falling on the 2nd position, with 23.5 percent, showed the report.
'With regards to those countries recording the highest investments in the domestic credit institutions in late March 2009, the novelty consisted in the switch between the two leaders of the ranking. Thus, depending on the contribution of capital brought, Greece ranked 1st, with 30.7 percent of the foreign aggregated capital recorded in late March 2009 by the domestic banking sectors, while Austria ranked 2nd with 23.5 percent,' reads the BNR's release on financial stability issued on Monday.
Ranking third was the Netherlands, with 11.9 percent.
