Companies invest in risk management

Companies are targeting risk management strategies change in order to improve the future business results, 85 percent planning to assimilate the economic crisis lessons, according to a study conducted by Accenture worldwide, taken over by Business Standard daily.
This research reveals that 40 percent of the companies have made or decided to make more consistent investments in boosting risk management capacities in the upcoming six months, whereas almost a third (31 percent) plan to implement investments of this kind.
According to the study, 48 percent of the respondents said that risk management specialists get more involved into into the company's strategic planning, in investment decisions or withdrawal ones (45 percent), and 27 percent remarked that these specialists are very much involved into the goal setting and performance management.
The said research also identified a series of problems the companies are confronted with in the risk management field, as its inefficient integration in the companies' operations, identified by 85 percent of the companies, absence of aligning the company strategy to its investment plans (85 percent), absence of some financial and business data related to the market's evolution (80 percent).
'Managers could improve their organizational performance and could position themselves on the economic recovery path by making a link and establishing a balance between risk management and performance, in order to support their decisions and to boost shareholders' gains', said Dan London, managing director of Accenture financial department.
The main benefits - identified by managers - of the fact that the company is tackling risk management are the impact upon company profitability (61 percent) and upon its capacity to manage the cash flow (58 percent), the study also reads.
