Eurolines Romania goes beyond bounderies of Europe
Agerpres - Romanian News Agency - 14 Iulie 2009
Turkey and Siria are the first extra-European destinations of the Romanian transporter, said, on Monday, for Agerpres, Traian Badulescu, PR Eurolines.
'The Romanian tourists can arrive, through Eurolines, to Bulgaria (Albena and Sofia) and Greece (Thessaloniki, Athens, Larisa and Volos). In this difficult year, the Romanians get reoriented towards the road transport, by bus included, ' Badulescu stressed.
After the opening, this April, of the line of buses towards Turkey, starting on May 16, Eurolines Romania is operating in a partnership with Manor Co. also on the Bucharest-Damasc route.
The reason for opening this line is the fact that in Romania, there is a strong community of Syrians and some 200,000 Kurds, who can reach the destination, following this route. Also, in Syria, settled are over 100,000 Romanians who do come, on a regular basis, to Romania.
In the context of this difficult year, Romanians get re-oriented towards the road transporter, with that by bus having a high percentage. According to the National Statistics Institute (INS), for the first five months this year, the road means of transport were those used by the Romanian visitors for travelling abroad, the equivalent of 79.8 percent of the total number of departures.
