Seven Romanian Danube ports to be modernised on 140 million euros

The first stage of the largest modernisation project for Romanian Danume ports in the past 30 years has successfully completed, state secretary with the Transport Ministry Marin Anton said on Wednesday in Giurgiu.
It is about the DANUBE project, sponsored by the European Commission and the Romanian Government, that aims at developing and modernising the infrastructure of seven Romanian Danube ports - Moldova Veche, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Calafat, Giurgiu, Oltenita, Calarasi and Cernavoda. The total value of the investment is put at 140 million euros, and the project should be carried out in the next seven years.
Also attending the meeting in Giurgiu were Director of the Giurgiu River Port National Administration Danut Ofiteru and officials of consulting firms that worked out the feasibility study for the DANUBE project.
