Risks that may influence Romania Partnership Strategy

Romania's total financing needs in 2009 amount to about 44 billion euros, considering the estimated current account deficit, the value of the short-term debts and the deadlines for the medium and long term debts, reads the Romania Partnership Strategy, which was published by the World Bank.

According to the WB appreciation, the Romania Partnership Strategy may be influenced by some risks. From among the economic and financial ones the Bank mentions the risks that financial markets should stay frozen for a longer period of time and Romania's economic recession should contract even more. This foreign risk cannot be diminished and the WB has low possibilities to increase short term loans.

One of the domestic risks that my negatively influence the achievement of the strategy drawn up by the WB is the answer of the Romanian economy to reforms and the low capability to absorb European funds.

The social risks come from the population's expectations, from the persistence of the poverty degree, which is not influenced by the economic development and the increase in poverty as a consequence of the world crisis.
