39 big investments contracts worth 31 million euros

As many as 14 out of 39 contracts for sweeping investments within the Sectoral Operational Programme: Rise in Economic Competitiveness, Priority Axis 1 have been signed in Bucharest in the presence of PM Emil Boc and Minister for small and medium-sized enterprises Constantin Nita.

The 39 finalized and signed contracts totally worth 31.6 million euros cover numerous from reinforcing, textiles to concrete production and constructions. Companies that access projects are to allot co-financing ranging between 30 and 50 percent.

Minister Constantin Nita said that in capacity of vice-president of PSD (Social Democratic Party) that his party has drawn up a parallel anti-crisis road map that requires the elimination of the minimal tax as of Sept. 1 and the tax on reinvested profit. Minister for small and medium-sized enterprises stressed the same as PM Boc that the elimination on the tax on reinvested profit and on the minimal turnover depend on the approval by the International Monetary Fund and the European Union and that, in case the approvals are obtained, the need for changing the Tax Code would entail scrapping the two taxes in January 2010.

Minister Nita called on small and medium-sized enterprises for more courage to access European funds so that the sum worth 200 million euros available for endorsing SMEs in 2009 should be fully used.

Some of the representatives of the present companies that managed to sign contracts for big investments bound for the rise in competitiveness have complained that the co-financing ratio is much bigger because of bank interests and the accessed sums are by 20 percent lower compared to the sums stipulated in the contract because of inflation and exchange rate fluctuations.

Among the difficulties encountered by those who wanted to access European funds are the change of the market circumstances because of the crisis, compared to the registration of fund accession, as well as the lack of professionalism of consulting companies.
