Authorities promise to finish Turda-Gilau segment in autumn

In his turn, PM Boc promised again that it will be possible to circulate this autumn on the 42 km between Turda and Gilau of Transylvania Motorway. Bechtel, the builder of Transylvania Motorway, could have asphalted 20 km of Suplacu de Barcau-Bors segment if it received more money this year from the Transport Ministry, declared in early July the spokesman of the company, Bogdan Sgarcitu. The project of the construction of Brasov-Bors segment of Transylvania Motorway was started in 2004, subject to a contract of EUR 2.2 bln granted to Bechtel. The works were interrupted by the middle of 2005, when the authorities began to review the contracts concluded by the previous administration. As a result of the interruption of the works, the deadline for the finalization of the expressway, set initially in 2012, was extended one year.
