BVB strong recovery scenario is feasible, according to brokers
Agerpres - 28 Iulie 2009
Scenario according to which the listed equities on Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) can recover strongly is a feasible one, after the 80-90 percent plunges in 2008, estimate the brokers.
'Part of this decline, albeit a small one, was recouped in 2009. On a favorable scenario, BVB could recover, although a major variable remains, namely the timing - when this is going to happen. The Romanian market is an emergent one, characterized by a higher volatility. When exchanges rise, BVB has a stronger growth, when the exchanges drop, BVB follows a stronger downward trend', president of the brokerage house Intercapital Invest Razvan Pasol told AGERPRES.
Romania's capital market could grow 2-3 fold in the following 3-4 years, the local bourse being one of the most under evaluated in the world, stated on Tuesday Mark Mobius, director general of Franklin Templeton Investments, company selected to also administer Proprietatea Fund assets, in the opening of the BVB trading session.
In his opinion, the number of non-listed companies likely to be floated on BVB is one of the most attractive opportunities.
We are present here to benefit of this growth. In general, we invest on long-term and the average period of a portfolio holding for Franklin Templeton is five years, said the representative of investment company Franklin Templeton.
The company, present on the domestic capital market for 12 years, has direct investments in Romania of 15 million dollars, as well as indirect investments, through companies in Eastern Europe, which hold equities in Romania.
According to the brokerage house representative, BVB recovery depends first of all on the evolution of the stock exchanges abroad, as well as on a coherent governance as for the economic, fiscal and legislative policies and the BVB quota structure.
