Romania's central bank revises downwards inflation prognosis for the end of 2009 and 2010

Romania's Central Bank (BNR) slashed the inflation prognosis for the end of 2009 from 4.4 percent to 4.3 percent, according to the quarterly report on inflation presented today by the BNR governor, Mugur Isarescu.
BNR maintained the inflation target for the end of the year at 3.5 percent, plus or minus one percentage point.
The annual rate of inflation lowered to 5.86 percent in June from 5.95 percent in May, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The central lender also revised downwards the inflation prognosis for the end of 2010, from 2.8 percent to 2.6 percent, and reconfirmed the inflation target for the end of next year, of 3.5 percent, plus or minus one percentage point.
