Construction of 'The Colosseum' commercial center to start in autumn 2009

Construction of one of the largest commercial centers in Europe, 'The Colosseum', developed by Nova Imobiliare Co., controlled by British investors, is to be launched in the autumn of 2009, in Bucharest, based on an investment in excess of 350 million euros.
'Colosseum' project is located in Chitila road, Bucharest, on a surface of 620,000 square meters and is to be built in two phases. In the first one a commercial park with a 58,000 sq m surface is to be arranged and in the second phase a mall to cover a 140,000 sq m surface with destination retail and 8,500 parking places. The mall is set to host more than 480 stores.
Construction works of the commercial park, in the first phase, are to be started in the autumn of 2009, the entrepreneur contract being signed with Bouygues Co.
Currently, Nova Real Estate is in ongoing negotiations with important Romanian and international banks interested in financing this project. The investor in Collosseum project will allocate an added amount of some 30 million euros for the access roads and local public transport. At the project's finalization, the upgraded infrastructure will be donated to the community.
More than 70 percent of the retail park is already rented by companies such as the hypermarket Carrefour, home appliances retailers Flanco and Altex and do-it-yourself store chain Leroy Merlin.
The architecture project is made by specialists from Leach Rhodes Walker, one of the prestigious British companies, and interior design by Darrell Schmitt Design Associates from Los Angeles. Long-term rental and administration services of 'Colosseum' commercial center are to be assured by ECE Projektmanagement, European leader in the field of urban commercial centers, whereas the design of transport and technical infrastructure by international engineering companies Waterman International and WSP Group.
