Bank deposits in Romania inch for the fourth month in a row in July, to lei 158.6bn

People and companies' deposits in lei and foreign currency kept growing in July, by 0.4 percent versus June, to 158.63 billion lei, on higher foreign currency savings, announced the central bank (BNR).
In June, deposits had increased by 1.7 percent versus May, to 158.04 billion lei. The annual growth rate of deposits advanced to 13 percent in July.
Lei deposits reduced 0.3 percent in the seventh month of the year versus the end of June, to 101.46 billion lei and rose by 9.9 percent year-on-year.
Population's savings in lei reached 60.1 billion lei, having risen by 0.1 percent month-on-month and by 20.5 percent year-on-year. Companies' deposits lost 0.8 percent month-on-month to 41.36 billion lei, and slipped 2.6 percent from July 2008.
Foreign currency deposits expressed in lei increased by 1.5 percent in July month-on-month to 57.17 billion lei. Expressed in euros, they added 1.4 percent to 13.57 billion euros.
People's savings in foreign currency won 2.1 percent versus June to 33.8 billion lei, while companies' deposits inched 0.7 percent to 23.37 billion lei.
Expressed in euros, people's foreign currency deposits moved forward by 0.4 percent year-on-year, while companies' savings reduced 0.6 percent.
