Romanians' back payments to credits rise 6% in June, to lei 1.83bn, the central bank says

Arrears larger than 30 days for Romanians' credits reached 1.83 billion lei in June, up 6.25 percent over May, according to data published by the central lender BNR.

At the end of May, Romanians' back payments to credits amounted to 1.726 billion lei.

Still, arrears larger than 30 days for credits rose by 87 percent versus the end of 2008. Compared to June last year, they boosted 162 percent, according to BNR.

From all back payments, those older than 90 days represented 1.5 billion lei at the end of June.

More than 600,000 people got behind with payments in June, up 3 percent over May.
