Romania's central bank injects lei 8.4bn through one-week repo operation, at an 8.5% yearly interest
NewsIn - 27 August 2009
Romania's central lender BNR pumped 8.4 billion lei on the banking market through a repo operation maturing on September 3, at a yearly interest of 8.5 percent, similar to the monetary policy rate, a dealer told NewsIn.
As many as 19 lenders participated at the operation.
Interests started to slip after BNR's bid, according to Florin Bota, dealer for Romania's fifth lender by assets Banca Transilvania.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits reduced to 8.5 percent a year after the auction, from 9.50 - 10 percent a year.
In July, the central bank continued to pump liquidity on the market through repo operations, about 697.7 million lei per day, versus a daily average value of 748.4 million lei in June.
