Romanian-Turkish working group for joint economic projects

Romania and Turkey will make a working group, composed of representatives of the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, which will be in charge of bilateral economic projects, said, on Thursday, for Agerpres, ForMin Cristian Diaconescu, on an official visit to Ankara now.
He underscored that Turkey is the first trade partner of Romania out of the EU. As a matter of fact, in 2008, Turkey was the third trade partner of the European Union, the third foreign investor as regards the registered companies and the fourteenth in point of the invested capital.
'We have firstly discussed the initiation of a project of strategic partnership between Romania and Turkey. In the period immediately ahead, a strategic working group will be made from representatives of the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, that will include a series of concrete projects as regards this strategic mechanism. At stake are bilateral projects firstly linked notably to the economic dimension of cooperation,' said Cristian Diaconescu.
The Romanian top diplomat met in Ankara with Turkish president Abdullah Gul and with ForMin Ahmet Davutoglu. High on the talks agenda, there are topical subjects from the political and economic area, topics regarding the sectoral cooperation, the present and the future of the cooperation to the Black Sea, as well as important aspects of the international agenda.
'As regards the regional and multilateral cooperation, we take into account a complex political, strategic and economic approach, in this strategic partnership, of the area of the Black Sea, Central Asia and the Middle East, the cooperation within NATO, as regards the support of the candidacy of Turkey to the European Union. Also, we have set projects of dialogue and cooperation regarding the synergy of the Black Sea in a relationship with the Eastern Partnership, a project promoted by the European Union, and also, we take into account a joint political project between Romania and Turkey about the speeding up of the signing of the memorandum on the system of infrastructure around the Black Sea,' mentioned Cristian Diaconescu.
About Nabucco, the Romanian top diplomat said that Turkey continues to support this project and is ready, together with Romania, to conduct a regional dialogue in order to speed up the materialization of the gas pipeline.
In the context, Diaconescu said that Romania did not receive an official invitation from Russia, to join the South-Stream project, but he mentioned that there are 'technical talks' on the issue.
