Romanian-Hungarian cooperation in consumers' protection

President of the National Authority for the Protection of Consumers, ANPC, state secretary Bogdan Marcel Pandelica, concluded on Wednesday, Sept 9, a protocol of cooperation with the Authority for the Protection of Consumers, of Hungary, represented by general director Wittich Tamas, reads a release of ANPC.

Now, when Romania is a EU member state, we believe that by signing this protocol between the two neighbouring countries, a better protection of the economic interests of the consumers will be ensured, as well as a loyal competition market for the economic operators and the rendering of the consumers sure about the observance of their rights as European citizens, on the territory of Romania,' reads the said document.

The protocol was signed in Baia Mare, northern Romania, and along with the general objectives on the strengthening of the cooperation between the two institutions, it stipulates the exchange of specialists and of good practices in the fields of the supervision of the market.

An important point of the protocol is the setting of procedures of cooperation among the accredited laboratories based in Romania and Hungary, with a view to making prompt and secure analyses on the products in the market.

The protocol also stipulates the commitment of the two institutions as regards the mutual information about the experience gathered following the implementation of the European legislation. Wished is the improvement of the system of information and education of the consumers, it is possible in this way to caution the consumers about the possible incorrect practices which some consumers are using.

The exchange of information concerning the legislative modifications, as well as the exchange of information regarding the methods of control are objective of the Romanian-Hungarian protocol.
