Conference on security implications of climate changes in OSCE region held in Bucharest

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) organises on Monday and Tuesday in Bucharest together with the Greek OSCE Chairmanship and with the organisation's Secretariat in Vienna, the Conference on the security implications of climate changes in the OSCE region.
According to a news release sent on Sunday to Agerpres, the works of the conference will open State Secretary for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, representative of the Greek OSCE Chairmanship, Ambassador Louis-Alkiviadis Abatis and the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities, Goran Svilanovich.
Expected to attend the event are delegations of 56 states participants in the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, as well as representatives of international institutions and organisations with responsibilities sin the field.
The conference will promote the dialogue and the most efficient measures to intensify the relevant international cooperation. The seminar will examine also the existing connections between climate changes and regional security, reads the MAE release. This year Romania holds the presidency of the OSCE's Economic and Environmental Committee.
The main topics on the agenda of the OSCE presidency in the economic and environmental fields are: climate changes, migration, energy security, financial crisis, improvement of OSCE's ecological standards and release of new environmental programmes.
The main goal of Romania's mandate as president of the OSCE's Economic and Environmental Committee is to step up the reform in this respect, firstly by re-balancing the economic and environmental fields.
