Online payment by card of 69.5 million euro for the first 9 months of 2009

The value of electronic trade with online payment by bank card for the first nine months of the year was of 69.5 million euros, up by 75% against the same period of 2008, according to the press release sent by RomCard.

The number of tradings recorded between January and September 2009 was approximately 886,000, almost the double of the first 9 months of 2008. Through the platform epayment, there were 784,000 tradings, with total value of over 65 million euros. « Up to now, electronic trade with bank card payment proved to be one of the domains very little affected by the difficult period of the Romanian economy. The doubling of the number of tradings shows us that we should increase the volume of tradings towards the end of the year. Thus, we expect our online shops to have through epayment tradings of over 80 million euro in 2009" Carmen Sebe, CEO of GECAD epayment says.

The third quarter of the year brought for the shops using epayment an increase of the volume of payments through bank card of 7% against the period April - June 2008. The average value of the trading had a growing evolution in 2009, reaching the Q3 at 88 euro, against a minimum of 77 euro recorded during the first 3 months of the year. As a whole, over the first three months of 2009, there was an average of 83 euro per trading, reaching the average value of 2008, 84 euro per trading.

The analysis of information offered by the electronic trade platform epayments showed the fact that over the last three months no domain recorded a growth, but it is worth saying the fact that in the domain of etail IT the drop noticed over the first part of the year stopped, the third quarter recording even a growth of 13% of the number of tradings as compared to the previous quarter. In exchange, the domain of eTail non-IT recorded drops in the number of orders paid by card.

Products and services preferred by Romanians over the Q3 were in the domain of telecom ( bills, prepay cards, phones,accessories)followed by touristic packages and flying tickets. Third we have services ( insurances, publicity, various services).
