Romanian-Polish strategic partnership signed in Bucharest

President Traian Basescu and his Polish counterpart Lech Kaczynski signed, on Wednesday, at the Cotroceni presidential Palace, a declaration of strategic partnership.
'The strategic partnership is aimed at the political cooperation in the field of security, energy and long lasting development, agriculture, regional development, transport, climate changes and other economic objectives, ' said Traian Basescu, at a press statement held together with his counterpart from Poland.
'From the talks we have had with Mr. President, we have noticed common approaches, both as regards the coming into force of the Treaty of Lisbon and as regards the future structure of the Commission. We also approached the regional problems related to the Balkans, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, as well as Central Asia, particularly issues connected with the energy resources, ' Basescu added.
For his part, president of Poland Lech Kaczynski showed that they were aimed at the regional problems, as well as matters related to the EU. 'I want to stress that we approached topics of interest for both parties and we signed that document. We have discussed problems related to the new functions of the European Union. We have to take into account that the policy of our American allies has been modified somehow as regards our countries in that area. We have not avoided the theme of Ukraine, we have not avoided the issue of Turkey, ' Kaczynski said.
He mentioned that this is the third official meeting with Traian Basescu, reminding the moment of his visit to Bucharest about one year and a half ago.
Late on Wednesday, president Traian Basescu offered an official dinner in the honour of president Lech Kaczynski. The Polish head of state met on Tuesday with prime minister Emil Boc, with speaker of the Senate Mircea Geoana, with speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Roberta Anastase.
The visit of the Polish President to Romania was announced this May, during a symposium dedicated to the 90-th anniversary of Romanian-Polish diplomatic relations. Also this March, president Traian Basescu made a one-day official visit to the Polish Republic, at the invitation of his counterpart. On June 4, prime minister Emil Boc had, in Krakow, a bilateral meeting with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk, on which occasion, the signing in Bucharest of a Romanian-Polish partnership took place.
Kaczynsky: Poland will support Romania in developing the Nabucco project
Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc on Wednesday met the Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who said Poland is ready to support Romania in developing the Nabucco project, reads a Government's press release. Emil Boc underlined on this occasion once again the importance of the project, from the perspective of the diversification of the sources and supply routes for gas delivery, towards the guarantee of the energy safety in Europe.
Moreover, the Romanian Premier hailed the conclusion of the 'Romanian-Polish Strategic Partnership Common Statement' and also added that the Romanian Government will get actively involved with the implementation of this Partnership, first of all by creating working groups on this purpose.
The head of the Romanian government and the Polish President have both underlined the excellent political and economic relations between the two countries. Moreover, Lech Kaczynski and Emil Boc had an exchange of opinions on the measures taken by the two countries' governments in combating the effects of the economic crisis.Accompanying the Romanian PM while receiving the Polish guests there were the Minister of Economy Adriean Videanu and the Romanian Ambassador to Warsaw Gheorghe Predescu.
