Raiffeisen Bank: „ The IMF money is absolutely necessary. The alternative is extremely negative
ACT Media - 27 Octombrie 2009
Ionut Dumitru, the head of the analysis department with Raiffeisen Bank stated recently that the most probable scenario connected to the following stage of the IMF is the one where the money comes, even if there is a certain delay due to the political situation.
« I think it is absolutely necessary to get the IMF money, the European Commission and the other institutions. For the lack of it, the financing of the budgetary deficit will be extremely difficult, the need for financing of the government being very high. Taking into consideration the extremely negative alternative, I think that the most likely scenario is to get the next money from IMF and the other institutions, although with a certain delay", Dumitru explained.
According to his opinion, the delay in receiving the money is conditioned the existence of a government to implement the assumed conditions. Asked which could be the risks Romania could experience in the extreme case there the money does not come, Dumitru warned that we could assist the increasing of the foreign financing price as an effect of a possible reduction of the country rating, with the impact that it could entail.
» A possible slippage in the relation with IMF could bring negative effects even at the level of country rating, with immediate results on the cost of foreign financing. Everything depends on the way the political environment understands there is no alternative and we need the money from IMF and the European Commission. Moreover, not only financing matters for the perception about Romania being extremely important and the coherence of economic policies brought about by the meeting of conditions corresponding to the foreign financial package" Dumitru mentioned for Hotnews.
